The sneers of your classmates and teacher? Ladies hating on ladies! Being a woman, for many women, seems to mean having the ability to pretend it's all effortless and to be an asshole to women who struggle with certain things.

My favourite depressing tampon story is about my friend in her nearly mid-20s (about 15 years ago): 1st degree almost completed, extremely promiscuous, clever, witty, charming, passed her high school science classes and was taking a class in university called Human Sexuality. She joked that it would be easy credit for her, sexual powerhouse of knowledge that was. The course included having to learn/memorize the intricacies of male and female reproductive systems. Yet after that class, she still refused to use tampons out of fear of sticking it up the wrong hole.

Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07690864162844927797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7918809780977867389.post-86527688222763452202013-03-10T20:01:01.238-04:002013-03-10T20:01:01.238-04:00Thank you, Elise. I decided to edit the version you read, because I didn't want to write about my mother, but about how we puzzle and grapple our way through ignorance. Most importantly, I think women have to talk. I wish I could go back in time and change that for your young self. But since I can't, I'll just say I love you now.Elisenoreply@blogger.com
